The Rise of the Wet Room

Over the last few years, wet rooms have exploded in popularity in the UK and 3Flo have certainly noticed a huge increase in wet room installations throughout Hertfordshire. The beauty of a wet room is that they are uncluttered and offer extensive flexibility in layout and design. Not only do they give your home the extra ‘wow’ factor, but when the time comes to sell, they add value to your home.

Completely waterproof with a level access shower, wet rooms can offer a spacious feel with sleek tiles to add a touch of luxury. They are extremely versatile and there are many feature options for different size bathrooms, including shower screens for small bathrooms to prevent other appliances from getting wet.

So, what’s the difference between a wet room and shower room?

A wet room is a bathroom solution that, quite simply, is what the term suggests – a room that can get wet. A wet room space is completely open-plan without shower screens or trays and designed with a sloping floor to allow water to drain away. A shower room typically features one or two glass screens and a low-level shower tray.

Flexible and accessible

Wet rooms can be easily adapted for rooms of all sizes to create a spacious feel, even in small bathrooms. For those whose movement or mobility is restricted, a wet room is the perfect solution as they are easily accessible and provide a safe, family-friendly space with no trip hazards.

Wet room features

Typically, wet rooms don’t include a bath, depending on personal choice and the size of the bathroom. The use of tiles throughout can make the room incredibly stylish, and some can also feature different materials such as wood, stone or concrete to cater for personal tastes. Others like to have their wet rooms equipped with a wide range of bathroom fixtures to make it look even more luxurious. Underfloor heating is a popular choice, but central heating towel radiators also do the job for the colder months!

With the busy lifestyles we lead, many of us don’t get the time to soak in a relaxing bath and instead we jump in the shower to enjoy a little peace before the busy day starts.

If a wet room sounds like the perfect solution for you or if you’re feeling a little hot or cold and have a few questions, then 3Flo are here to help!
